You!

My experience in the field since 2009 has given me the privilege of working with people aged 3-103 The client who finds me is ready to make changes in their life, and feel differently about themselves and their circumstance. I work with people of all ages, races, genders, and religions.

Transitions and change are usually big themes and are applicable across all humans. Unavoidable and ever present, I’m talking sickness, career shifts, leaving home, new child, death in your life, emerging sexuality, back to school, moving to a new place, and more.

Sometimes these transitions are challenging around decision points, general coping, or bring up big questions about who you are, how you deal, and where you thrive best. They also bring up the forever reminder that life is unpredictable and difficult to cope with.

CHILDREN + PARENTS

Creativity is the language of children and this is my primary modality. Utilizing play and creative arts allows your child to help figure out what’s going on inside themselves and where the grown-ups have an opportunity to help. The art or play becomes the vehicle for communication and resilience building.

Parents play an integral role in terms of participation. While the child’s session will be individual, there is also an expectation of parental meetings and availability outside of session time for any updates and processing.

Art Therapists work with childhood experiencing a wide range emotional, behavioral, or physical disorders. This could include a litany of things such as:

  • Anxiety + excessive worry

  • Depression + low mood

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Behavioral and emotional regulation difficulties

  • Grief, Loss, or Chronic Illness

  • Social challenges and low self-esteem

  • Learning or sensory challenge issues

  • Supporting transitions related to moving, new schools, foster care, etc.

COLLEGE STUDENTS

This is a hectic time of life and sometimes it can go sideways managing all of the new. Maybe you faked it for awhile, but the stress is feeling unmanageable. Maybe you are in the process of really finding and defining yourself. Maybe you need the ongoing support being in a new town in general.

Alongside the treatment of mental health issues like Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, OCD, and others Art Therapy will help:

  • slow things down, provide alternative ways of processing life’s conditions/experiences

  • creating the mind-body connection to support stress reduction and clarify your priorities

  • process your new relationships - friendships and lovers

  • help define your identity, your sexuality, and who you are true to self

  • identify your goals and priorities

  • address trauma, manage anxiety, and depressive symptoms

  • combat perfectionism, embrace the uncertainty

ADULTS

Many adults I work with have been in therapy before and may have some self knowledge, but they’re often looking for an alternate approach to the “typical” ways they’ve done therapy in the past.

My clinically minded, yet thoughtful approach to my work with adult clients allows people to lean into their unknown parts within the safety of the studio. You need to previous artistic experience or ability to benefit.

I work with individuals who are experiencing a wide array of issues related to anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, depression, and childhood trauma.
